I take this photograph of the water buffalo just after we finish our cart ride through the rice paddies of Cambodia. The hand, to the left of the photograph, belongs to a boy who is petting a young water buffalo on the head. The soft eyes portray the gentle nature of the adult water buffalo, who looks on. In the distance, the guide is driving one of the carts back home at the end of the day. The gentle and compliant water buffalo work well as draught animals, and enjoy the attention from children at this village. With this global photo story, I salute these good natured animals and the people who care for them.
