Don’t be afraid of being a newbie to Yoga. At 59, I started practicing consistently and sometimes modify poses to suit my ability, but flexibility improves with practice. There’s always room for improvement, and growth is one of the many benefits of practice.
Watching animals keeps us in the moment. If only we could stay so focused on our daily tasks as this gorilla. Yoga teaches us to breathe and stay mindful.
Sometimes it’s fun to watch animals at the zoo instinctively posing with the beautiful posture, strength and balance that yoga teaches people.
We can appreciate a warm, indoor habitat at a Great American Zoo when we explore a city. When we visited zoos on slow, cold days the animals were especially happy to see us. You can take a walk outdoors to greet the snow-lovers, then warm up indoors with animals in a heated habitat.
We like to explore a great American city, like Chicago, at least once a year to take long walks, eat local food, visit attractions and a great American zoo, and learn something new. You can enjoy this view from the Adler Planetarium…and learn about stars and planets inside.
